Security Officer: Full Time Day shift (8am - 4pm) + every other weekend and holiday

Summary:

  • Enforces hospital regulations, provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and employees by enforcing hospital regulations and by continuously watching for and reporting potential safety hazards and unusual occurrences through patrol of assigned areas. Investigates complaints or potential criminal conduct; assists in restraining patients as necessary; provides protective services. Possesses and exhibits strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Protects the establishment, its patients, visitors, staff, and invitees against hazards such as trespass, crime, fire, and other emergencies. Aids acutely ill individuals and renders assistance as needed.
  • Patrols fixed posts and/or hospital premises, remaining alert for fire, theft, accidents, leaks, property damage, housekeeping issues, and traffic control. Keeps supervisor informed at all times.
  • Verifies the identity of all persons during designated hours. Examines property and parcels being taken from the premises to deter theft.
  • Prepares and submits detailed and accurate written reports. Maintains confidentiality and may be required to testify in court regarding hospital or security matters.
  • Cross-trains in other locations beyond the usual workplace. Ensures all training is current. May work different shifts or locations as needed.
  • Maintains all issued keys, equipment, and uniforms. May supervise others temporarily when assigned as a temporary Supervisor or Lead Officer.
  • Works weekends, holidays, and may participate in special events as required.
  • Must be of good character, neat in appearance, and adhere to departmental dress code and standards.
  • Interacts with persons entering and leaving the hospital, including patients, visitors, and employees, across various settings such as waiting rooms, treatment areas, and inpatient rooms.
  • Performs duties outdoors in extreme weather conditions when assigned. May need to confront, restrain, or apprehend persons, which involves physical risk.

Credentials:

  • Driver's License (Required)

Education or Equivalent Experience:

  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • Associate of Arts or Science, or equivalent experience in criminal justice or related field
  • 2+ years in security, military, or law enforcement
