Job summary

Allied Universal, North America's leading security and facility services company, seeks a Part-Time Security Officer in Ashland, VA. You will perform unarmed patrols at a technology-focused corporate location, provide excellent customer service, and maintain logs of observations.

Pay is $21.00 per hour with Wednesday and Thursday 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM schedules. The role offers training, shift flexibility via our Claim a Shift platform, and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• CPR certification is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Alarm panel experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Background checks and a drug screen are required.
• Licensing requirements may apply depending on state/local laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to clients, employees, visitors, and/or contractors by carrying out security-related procedures and site policies.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of buildings, offices, parking areas, access points, and perimeter areas.
• Monitor access activity, verify credentials, and maintain logs and incident documentation.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner with site contacts and responders.
• Deter unauthorized activity through a visible presence and timely reporting of concerns.

• Wed: 04:00 PM - 12:00 AM
• Thur: 04:00 PM - 12:00 AM

What You’ll Do:

• Provide customer service to clients, employees, visitors, and/or contractors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a technology-focused corporate location.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of buildings, offices, parking areas, access points, and perimeter areas to help identify and report unusual conditions, maintenance concerns, and potential policy violations.
• Monitor access activity and visitor entry procedures, verify credentials as directed, and maintain accurate logs and incident documentation.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, communicating with site contacts, emergency responders, and Allied Universal leadership as needed.
• Help to deter unauthorized activity through a visible presence, professional interactions, and timely reporting of security-related concerns.

Minimum Requirements:

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• CPR certification is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Alarm panel experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
