Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and contractors at an educational location.
• Conduct regular unarmed patrols of campus buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter to deter incidents.
• Monitor access points and report suspicious activity, policy violations, hazards, and maintenance concerns.
• Respond to incidents calmly and coordinate with campus personnel and responders as needed.
• Complete accurate activity logs, incident reports, and required documentation.

As a Security Officer Enhanced Part Time Unarmed Patrol Hazard Observer in Reading, PA, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking-up additional shifts when it works for you.

Pay Rate: $17.55 / Hour

Security Experience (C112)

• Candidates must have a minimum of 6 months of relevant security experience. This experience should be clearly outlined in the candidate's resume and discussed during the interview process.

Comfortable Using Computer or Tablet (B204)

How This Role Works:

• Fixed-Shift Commitment ("Anchor Shifts"): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick-up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part-time hours this week and full-time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build-up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and/or contractors while carrying out site‑specific procedures and emergency response activities at an educational location.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of campus buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points and report suspicious activity, policy violations, hazards, and/or maintenance concerns according to site procedures.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, contacting appropriate campus personnel and/or emergency responders as needed.
• Complete accurate activity logs, incident reports, and other required documentation in accordance with Allied Universal and site‑specific requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

• At least 6 months of security‑related experience is required.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
