Allied Universal in Reading, PA is seeking a part-time Security Officer Enhanced to provide reliable, flexible coverage at an assigned site. You’ll earn $17.55 per hour with fixed shift on Fridays 12:30 PM - 6:00 PM and optional extra shifts through our scheduling platform.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and campus partners by executing security procedures and site policies.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and emergencies calmly and per campus protocols.
• Conduct regular patrols of buildings, parking areas, walkways, and perimeters to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and document incidents and maintenance concerns per site procedures.
• Communicate professionally with campus personnel and local responders as needed.

As a Security Officer Enhanced Part Time Site Security in Reading, PA, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking‑up additional shifts when it works for you.

Pay Rate: $17.55 / Hour

1. Security Experience (C112)
   • Candidates must have a minimum of 6 months of relevant security experience. This experience should be clearly outlined in the candidate's resume and discussed during the interview process.
   • Emails to candidates should include a reminder of this requirement and encourage them to provide specific examples of their security experience.
2. Comfortable Using Computer or Tablet (B204)
   • Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in using computers or tablets, as this is essential for performing job duties effectively.
   • Communication with candidates should include questions or prompts that assess their comfort level with technology. For example, 'Please describe your experience using computers or tablets in a professional setting.'
3. Customer Service Experience (B219)
   • A background in customer service is crucial for many positions within our company. Candidates should have experience that showcases their ability to interact positively with customers.
   • Emails should prompt candidates to share their customer service experiences, such as handling difficult situations or providing exceptional service.

Job Schedule:

• Fri: 12:30 PM - 06:00 PM

How This Role Works:

• Fixed-Shift Commitment ("Anchor Shifts"): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and campus partners by carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem‑solving manner, following established campus protocols and reporting requirements.
• Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of campus buildings, parking areas, walkways, and perimeter areas to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security‑related concerns.
• Monitor access points and observe activity throughout the location, documenting incidents, maintenance concerns, and unusual conditions in accordance with site procedures.
• Communicate professionally with campus personnel and local emergency responders as needed to support a welcoming environment and timely response to security‑related matters.

Minimum Requirements:

• Have at least 6 months of security‑related experience.
• Be comfortable using a computer or tablet, preferred.
• Have customer service experience, preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
