Allied Universal in Punta Gorda, FL is seeking a Security Officer Enhanced for part-time jail control center duties. This role offers flexible hours with fixed anchor shifts and the option to pick up additional shifts via the scheduling platform.

You will monitor access, assist visitors and staff, respond to alarms and incidents, and help maintain a safe government facility. Pay is $19.00 per hour, with opportunities to grow and earn more through additional shifts.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, employees, contractors, and the public while following site-specific access-control procedures and emergency response activities at a government facility.
• Monitor entry/exit points, verify IDs, manage visitor sign-in, and maintain access-related records.
• Control access to restricted areas per post orders and escalate unauthorized access.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations calmly and according to procedures.
• Conduct regular patrols of entrances, building areas, and perimeters to deter unauthorized activity.

As a Security Officer Enhanced Part Time Jail Control Centerin Punta Gorda, FL, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking‑up additional shifts when it works for you.

Pay Rate: $19.00 / Hour

Job Schedule:

DayTimeWed11:00 PM - 07:00 AMThur11:00 PM - 07:00 AM

How This Role Works:

• Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim‑A‑Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Provide customer service to visitors, employees, contractors, and members of the public while carrying out site‑specific access‑control procedures, policies, and emergency response activities at a government facility.
• Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and authorization credentials, manage visitor sign‑in processes, and maintain accurate access‑related records.
• Control access to restricted areas in accordance with established post orders, escalating unauthorized access attempts or irregular activity to appropriate personnel.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem‑solving manner, following established notification and reporting procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned access points, building areas, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security‑related concerns.

Minimum Requirements:

• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
