Job Summary

The Armed Security Officer is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff; and to interact with people, with an emphasis on professional service and customer relations. The Armed Security Officer should have a working knowledge and understanding of the use of deadly physical force. This position works closely with staff, local law enforcement, and other government agencies.

Job Description

Patrol Activity:

• Directs visitors, patients and employees to appropriate location(s) and intervenes to prevent and control disturbances.
• Protecting, securing, and safeguarding all persons on SEH property.

Customer Relations

• Provide way-finding and general assistance for patients and visitors during routine security duties.
• Relate to customers, provide clear communication courteously, and use de-escalation techniques in various situations.

Operations Center

• Monitor activity via CCTV and alarm systems.
• Handle radio and telephone communications effectively.

Documentation And Reporting

• Complete reports, logs, and data entry professionally.
• Review daily communications and use photographic documentation when appropriate.

Training

• Complete all mandatory department training.
• Maintain firearms training and perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Credentials, Licenses

• High School Diploma or GED with Criminal Justice experience OR Bachelor's Degree.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable by hospital insurance.

Specialized Knowledge

• Complete police academy firearms course, concealed carry, military firearms training, or related.
• Pass psychological evaluation and weapons retention training.

Experience

• 6 months of SEH Security Officer 1 experience OR current sworn law enforcement OR honorably discharged military member.
