Job Summary

The Armed Security Officer is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff; and to interact with people, with an emphasis on professional service and customer relations. The Armed Security Officer should have a working knowledge and understanding of the use of deadly physical force. This position works closely with staff, local law enforcement, and other government agencies.

Job Description

Patrol Activity

• Directs visitors, patients, and employees to appropriate location(s) and intervenes to prevent and control disturbances.
• Protects, secures, and safeguards all persons on SEH property.

Customer Relations

• Provides way-finding and general assistance for patients and visitors during routine security duties.
• Relates to customers, provides clear communication courteously, and offers de-escalation techniques in various situations.

Operations Center

• Monitors activity via CCTV and alarm systems.
• Handles radio and telephone communications effectively.

Documentation and Reporting

• Completes case reports, maintenance logs, and data entry professionally.
• Reviews roll call, emails, and pertinent information daily.
• Uses photographic documentation to supplement reports when appropriate.

Training

• Completes all mandatory department training.
• Maintains firearms training and other related trainings.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Education, Credentials, Licenses

• High School Diploma or GED with applicable Criminal Justice experience OR Bachelor’s Degree.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable by the hospital insurance carrier.

Specialized Knowledge

• Completed an accredited police academy firearms course, state-approved concealed carry, or military firearms training.
• Passes a Psychological Evaluation.
• Completes weapons retention training.

Experience

• 6 months of SEH Security Officer 1 experience, OR
• Current Sworn Law Enforcement Officer, OR
• Honorably discharged Armed Forces member.
