Job summary

Emerson Hospital is seeking a Security Officer to help maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors. The role includes responding to incidents, monitoring access points, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies.

You will document shift activities and prepare security reports, collaborating with the Security Supervisor. Ideal candidates have security or related experience; AVADE Workplace Violence Prevention Levels I–III or equivalent certification within 60 days

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience in security, law enforcement, military, or customer service preferred; healthcare security strongly preferred.
• AVADE Certified in Workplace Violence Prevention Levels I–III or obtain within 60 days of employment.

All shift activities are coordinated to ensure compliance with all hospital policies, documents all shift activities and calls for service as well as security incident reports.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience
  • Experience in security, law enforcement, military, or customer service industry preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare security environment strongly preferred.
• Licensure and/or Certification
  • AVADE Certified in Workplace Violence Prevention Levels I, II, and III or obtain within 60 days of employment
• Skills
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Emotional resilience, the ability to de-escalate people in crisis or with grievances.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Must demonstrate ability to write Security Report.
