Job summary

Emerson Hospital in Concord, MA is seeking a dedicated Security Officer to ensure a safe, secure environment for patients, staff and visitors during the day shift.

You will respond to incidents, de-escalate crises, and document security actions in reports, contributing to a calm and compliant hospital setting.

This role requires strong English communication, customer service skills, and AVADE certification or the ability to obtain it within 60 days.

Qualifications

• Experience in security, law enforcement or customer service preferred.
• Healthcare security environment strongly preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• AVADE Workplace Violence Prevention certification or obtain within 60 days of employment.

About this role

Reporting directly to the Security Supervisor, responsibilities include assuring a safe and secure environment for all patients, staff, and visitors. May be called upon to provide assistance in many different circumstances, settings, and weather. All shift activities are coordinated to ensure compliance with all hospital policies, documents all shift activities and calls for service as well as security incident reports.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience
  • Experience in security, law enforcement, military, or customer service industry preferred.
  • Experience in a healthcare security environment strongly preferred.
• Licensure and/or Certification
  • AVADE Certified in Workplace Violence Prevention Levels I, II, and III or obtain within 60 days of employment
• Skills
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Emotional resilience, the ability to de-escalate people in crisis or with grievances.
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Must demonstrate ability to write Security Report.
