Job description

Role: Armed Security Officer responsible for providing visible deterrence, ensuring safety, and protecting hospital staff, patients, visitors, and assets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct frequent patrols of facilities and grounds, identifying security issues and trends.
• Respond promptly to emergency codes, disaster events, and service requests via various communication channels.
• Investigate incidents, document reports accurately, and enforce hospital policies and legal regulations.
• Assist with parking control, lost and found items, and support clinical/non-clinical staff with patient or visitor issues.
• Operate security equipment including CCTV, radios, paging systems, and generate electronic reports.
• Report safety hazards and promote a safe environment by observing and responding to hazards.
• Handle emotionally charged situations, including aggressive behavior, and assist with restraining or supporting patients and staff.

Qualifications & Skills:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum two years of armed security experience preferred, with law enforcement or healthcare security experience advantageous.
• Proficiency in handcuffs, baton, handgun, non-crisis intervention, and radio communication.
• Ability to handle stressful, potentially violent situations and physically perform security duties.
• Excellent communication, decision-making, and multitasking skills.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; required certifications vary by state.
• Completion of required training including de-escalation, firearms, defensive tactics, and drug testing.

Additional Requirements:

• Must be physically fit, alert, and capable of long periods of walking, standing, and lifting.
• Flexibility to rotate between facilities and respond to emergency situations as needed.
• Must obtain and maintain necessary licenses and certifications within specified time frames.
