The College of New Jersey is seeking a Security Officer to patrol campus facilities, deter unauthorized access, and respond to emergencies. You will report hazards, assist in emergencies, and support institutional safety.
Responsibilities include monitoring entrances, directing traffic, and providing escort services to students and staff while maintaining a secure campus environment.

Internal salary: Range 13/ $45,874.33 - $66,293.93
External salary: Range 13/ $45,874.33 - $52,000.21
UNION POSITIONS: The internal salary range is used forapplicants who are current NJ state employees with underlyingclassified status for promotional calculations who meet therequirements below. The external salary range is used forcandidates who are not NJ state employees who meet the requirements below.

Patrols an assigned area of offices, buildings, and grounds inclusing parking areas, and makes the required reports. Preventsunauthorized persons from entering the grounds and buildings,checks automobiles and trucks entering and leaving the college.Takes action as required to prevent fire, theft, vandalism,disorder, and/or damage to state property and equipment. Opens andcloses gates, doors, windows, and raises and lowers flags. Givesassistance when accidents or illness occurs in emergencies: summonsthe police and/or the fire department as needed. Assists the policewith the maintenance of order on the campus. Directs traffic in andaround the campus; regulates and controls pedestrian and vehiculartraffic at designated public intersections to assure safety,reasonably rapid movement, and a minimum of interference. Takesneeded action as to suspicious persons and conditions, and reportssignificant actions, occurrences, and conditions. Notes and reportsconditions, which constitute dangers and hazards. Conduct escortson campus for students, faculty and staff members asrequested.
