Job summary

Okaya Inc is seeking a vigilant Night Shift Security Guard (Unarmed) to protect campus facilities in Chattanooga, TN. You will perform access control, monitor CCTV, respond to alarms, and assist with patient admissions as needed.

Role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and a valid driver's license; prior security or related experience is a plus. The position runs nights 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 9+ month duration.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school; security or related experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Assist Admissions with patient processing (wanding with metal detector, pat downs).
• Respond to calls and emergencies; may respond to Code Situations.
• Control entrance/exit by verifying identity, purpose, and authorization; escort individuals as needed.
• Prepare and maintain incident reports, logs, and property records; inform supervisor of security concerns.
• Monitor alarms and security systems; patrol facilities to check for hazards, disturbances, and violations.
• Operate patrol/transport vehicles; use two-way radios and communications devices.

Pay Rate: $18/hr

Education and Experience:

Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school; qualifying full-time law enforcement, security, or related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Other Requirements: A valid motor vehicle operator's license may be required for employment in some positions.

Job Overview:

Under general supervision, the employee is responsible for institutional and related security work of average difficulty and performs related work as required. An employee in this class may be assigned to work any shift to provide a full range of institutional and other security activities, such as protecting public buildings.

Work Activities:

• Assists in Admissions with processing patients (i.e., wanding with a metal detector, pat downs, etc.). Responsible for reviewing and documenting the patient's belongings.
• Responds to calls and take appropriate action to assist in emergencies. May be required to respond to Code Situations.
• Controls entrance and exit of individuals by checking for identity, purpose of visit, and authorization. Escorts individuals to ensure their safety.
• Prepares and maintains records such as incident reports, vehicle citations, logs of visitors and others, and personal property reports. Provides information to supervisor by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in-person to advise of any security concerns.
• Communicates with law enforcement agencies to report incidents, provide information, and request assistance. Monitor Processes, Materials, or Surroundings: Patrols facilities, monitors alarms and utilizes audiovisual and security systems (e.g., TV monitors) to check for security hazards, disturbances, and violations of pertinent laws, rules, or regulations. Visually monitors individuals to ensure safety and compliance with policies, rules, and regulations.
• Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment: Operates patrol and transport vehicles to complete security patrols or transport valuables and individuals. Controlling Machines and Processes: Operates two-way radios and other communications devices to accomplish security tasks.
