Job summary

Allied Universal is hiring a PART-TIME Security Guard in San Jose, CA, to monitor facilities, assist with access control, and deter incidents. You will patrol designated areas, verify credentials, and document activities while delivering excellent customer service.

The role supports a welcoming environment and uses our shift-claim platform to build a flexible schedule. Compensation is hourly with benefits where applicable.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of security experience.
• Access control and badge experience preferred.
• Guard Card or license preferred.
• Comfort using computer or tablet preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Age: 18+ unarmed, 21+ armed if applicable.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check required by law.
• Drug screen required where permitted.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service by following site procedures and access-control protocols.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations calmly and via escalation procedures.
• Conduct regular unarmed patrols of the facility and surroundings to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor entry/exit points, verify visitor and contractor credentials, log activities.
• Communicate professionally with staff and visitors and report issues.

Position Type: Part Time

Pay Rate: $24.84 / Hour

Job Schedule:

• Sat: 04:00 PM - 12:30 AM
• Sun: 04:00 PM - 12:30 AM

What You’ll Do:

• Provide customer service by carrying out site-specific procedures, access-control protocols, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a technology infrastructure location.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established escalation procedures.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of the facility, perimeter, parking areas, and critical infrastructure spaces to help deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor entry and exit points, verify visitor and contractor access credentials, and maintain accurate logs and reports of security-related activities.
• Communicate professionally with employees, visitors, contractors, and site personnel while reporting unusual conditions, maintenance concerns, and policy violations.

Minimum Requirements:

• At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• A Guard Card or license is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
