Bergen New Bridge Medical Center in Paramus, NJ, is seeking a Security Guard to patrol all hospital areas, monitor surveillance systems, and respond to security incidents. You will liaise with patients, visitors, and staff, preparing reports and supporting law enforcement when necessary.

Patrols all areas of Medical Center, including stairwells and areas not accessible to the public to prevent and/or detect fires, thefts, vandalism and other security problems.
Acts as liaison between patients/ visitors and the Medical Center, interpreting the Medical Center’s philosophy, policies, procedures and services to patients’ families and visitors.
Provides regular reports on patient/visitor issues to administration; investigates and directs inquiries to appropriate staff members.
Assists in referring patients and visitors to appropriate services and resources; responds personally when other alternatives are not available.
Detects violations of the law and contacts law enforcement when necessary and represents the Medical Center as the complainant/witness in any court proceedings that result.
Prepares incident reports and conducts investigations when necessary.
Assists in dealing with disruptive patients, visitors, or staff and participates in restraining emotionally disturbed patients when summoned by medical staff.
Directs cars into available spots in parking garage or lot. Re-parks double-parked cars, noting final parking spot on ticket attached to keys and placing keys on keyboard.
Reports parking violations and abandoned vehicles.
Takes on dispatching responsibilities as needed, which involves answering phones, entering information into the computer system, dispatching guards, and monitoring the camera surveillance system and emergency alarm panels.
Assumes role of switchboard operator during the midnight shift (12am-8am).
Logs totals of daily receipts into the daily account sheet at end of every shift.

Undertakes a variety of driving assignments as required.
Attends and participates in department meetings, training sessions and workshops.
Assists in the maintenance of department equipment (e.g. checks that radio batteries are freshly charged, and that radio is functional; cleans and oils handcuffs).
Escorts employees to and from Parking Lot and other Medical Center buildings.
Prepares and maintains department reports and records as required. Locks or unlocks doors to offices, closets, etc. upon employee request and when given proper authority.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in education programs, current literature review and workshops.
Performs other related duties as required. Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization.
High School Diploma/GED Required
Contact with patients, visitors, employees, and others in all hospital areas. Subject to unpredictable conditions on foot, climbing stairs, manually lifting over 40lbs plus, etc. Spends prolonged periods inside elevators, responding to calls, and enforcing rules and regulations. Frequent prolonged standing/walking. Physical force is used to restrain people when necessary.
Salary commensurate with experience within posted range.
$22.71 | DIFFERENTIALS- EVE $1.30/ NIGHT SHIFT $1.60/ WEEKEND $2.05 ACTING SUPV $2.00 CAN ALSO EARN ADDITIONAL $1.00 PER SECURITY CERT THROUGH IAHSS
