Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center in Montclair, NJ seeks a variable-shift, PRN Security Officer to protect staff, patients and property while patrolling the campus.

You will escort staff and visitors, perform daily lock/unlock duties, respond to alarms, and assist with incident response and safety drills.

Prior security, corrections, or law enforcement experience and a valid driver’s license are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1-3 years of prior security, corrections, or law enforcement experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Campus patrolling of the hospital and clinics owned/operated by the hospital.
• Escort staff and visitors as needed.
• Daily lock and unlock of facilities on campus.
• Respond to alarm activations and investigate causes.
• Assist in fire drills and safety procedures.
• Enforce parking regulations and traffic control on campus.
• Provide general safety and security support as assigned.

Responsibilities

• The Security Officer role is responsible for performing a variety of safety and security functions related to the safeguarding of our employees, patients, visitors, physicians, and property.
• Campus patrolling of the hospital as well as medical offices owned/operated by the hospital.
• Routinely provide escort service to staff and visitors.
• Daily lock and unlock of facilities on campus.
• Provide motor vehicle assistance to staff and/or visitors,
• Respond to all alarm activations and investigate the cause.
• Assist in conducting all fire drills within the hospital.
• Responsible for enforcing all parking regulations and traffic control within the hospital campus.
• Assist with patient restraints (i.e., Emergency Department and Psychiatric unit).
• Act as Hazmat first responders.
• Conduct monthly ground surveys and report findings.
• Maintain a daily activity log of all activities and calls for service that were addressed and handled.
• Responsible for the collection of all lost and found items, including the production of proper documentation and identifying the location of the owner whenever possible.
• Respond to calls for morgue duty (i.e., transport of deceased patient to the morgue and responsibility for proper release of the body).
• Perform any and all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1-3 years of prior security, corrections, or law enforcement experience.
• Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Experience within a healthcare setting.

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
