Job summary

Allied Universal in Washington, DC is seeking a Security Officer - Part Time Enhanced to provide campus security and emergency communications. The role offers a flexible anchor shift with a six-month commitment and opportunities to pick up additional shifts through the Earn More, Claim-A-Shift program.

Pay rate is $21.15 per hour. The position schedule is Thursdays 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM, with potential to scale up to 40 hours weekly and grow toward a full-time role within the company.

Qualifications

• At least two years of security-related experience.
• Access control and badge experience preferred.
• Alarm panel experience preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• X-ray screening experience preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check and drug screen required by employer.
• Licensing requirements may apply by state/local laws.
• Driver's license required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and campus partners by carrying out site-specific procedures and emergency response activities.
• Receive, prioritize, and dispatch calls for service, alarms, routine requests, and incidents.
• Maintain logs and incident documentation including dispatch activity and communications with responders.
• Respond to incidents calmly and coordinate with officers and stakeholders.
• Monitor alarms, cameras and access systems and escalate concerns per site procedures.

Job Schedule

Day: Thur Time: 02:30 PM - 11:00 PM

How This Role Works

• Fixed-Shift Commitment ("Anchor Shifts"): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It's all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and/or campus partners by carrying out site‑specific procedures, policies, and appropriate emergency response activities.
• Receive, prioritize, and dispatch calls for service, alarms, routine requests, and critical incidents using campus communication systems and established protocols.
• Maintain accurate logs and incident documentation, including dispatch activity, calls for service, and communications with responding personnel and local agencies as applicable.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, coordinating timely communication with officers, supervisors, and campus stakeholders.
• Monitor communication channels, alarms, cameras, and/or access‑related systems as assigned, reporting unusual activity and escalating concerns according to site procedures.

Minimum Requirements

• At least two years of security‑related experience is required.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Alarm panel experience is preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
• X‑ray screening experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
