Job summary

Allied Universal in Detroit is seeking a Part Time Enhanced Security Officer to provide customer service, monitor access, and respond to incidents at a utility services site. The role features a fixed anchor shift and a six-month commitment, with the option to pick up additional shifts to increase earnings.

Pay rate is $17.50 per hour, with a Tue 02:00 PM - 06:00 PM schedule. You can scale to up to 40 hours per week and gain hands-on experience with a market-leading security team.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience preferred.
• Access control and badge experience preferred.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet.
• Age 18+ for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Background check and drug screen required where permitted by law.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Life doesn't always follow a fixed schedule. That's why we created the Security Officer - Part Time Enhanced position: a flexible, dependable option for individuals looking to supplement their income, gain hands‑on experience, or work toward a full‑time career with the industry leader.

Pay Rate: $17.50 / Hour

Job Schedule: Tue 02:00 PM - 06:00 PM

How This Role Works:

• Fixed-Shift Commitment ("Anchor Shifts"): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It's all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Provide customer service to clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a utility services location.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, access concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, following established site procedures.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of facilities, grounds, equipment areas, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized activity and identify unusual conditions.
• Monitor access points and visitor activity, maintain awareness of authorized personnel and contractors, and report security‑related concerns to appropriate site contacts.
• Complete required activity reports, incident documentation, and shift communications in accordance with Allied Universal and site‑specific requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Comfortably using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
