Job summary

TSTC is seeking a security engineer lead to oversee government security engineering efforts, translating NIST and federal standards into actionable tasks. The role requires hands-on security work, mentorship of junior staff, and clear communication with senior leadership.

Hybrid work is available with 4 days on-site in Colorado Springs or Annapolis Junction, MD, and occasional travel. Candidates should have a CISSP or CISM, a bachelor’s degree, and 15 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and 15 years of related security engineering experience.
• CISSP or CISM certification is required.
• Provide SME to security requirements allocation and architecture processes.
• Translate NIST/government cybersecurity standards into actionable tasks.
• Review evidence and artifacts for A&A processes and security plans.

Responsibilities

• Lead responses to federal ad hoc reporting requirements.
• Provide expert technical guidance translating standards into tasks.
• Lead reviews and briefings (5–8 per month).
• Develop IT system design alternatives balancing security, functionality, and cost.
• Oversee compliance deliverables and security impact analyses.
