Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. offers a Security Consulting Engineer Intern role where you will interact with customers, learn to plan, design, deploy and optimize security solutions, and gain hands-on experience across Identity Services, Firewalls and Cloud-based security.

You will attend on-site design and configuration sessions, collect project requirements, and learn to develop automation capabilities using Java, Python, C++, and open source tools while collaborating with mentors across Cisco.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program (Associate's or Bachelor's).
• Qualifying education should be in Information Systems, Cyber Security, Computer Networking, Computer Science or Engineering or a related field.
• Knowledge of IT systems, networking concepts, TCP/IP protocols, network devices and applications, OSI 7-layer model, or code development.

Responsibilities

• Attend on-site design and configuration sessions with a Security Consulting mentor.
• Collect requirements from customers for projects to meet critical business goals.
• Define business goals and requirements for integration efforts with a team mentor.
• Aid in analyzing and designing policy creation for Identity Services, Firewalls, Visibility Solutions and Cloud-based solutions.
• Analyze customer configurations and provide feedback to align with business goals.
• Learn Security Policies, Standards, Procedures and Guidelines.
• Demonstrate programming languages (Java/Python/C++) and open source automation platforms (Ansible/Chef/Terraform) to develop automation capabilities using Cisco APIs.
