Job summary

Block by Block is seeking a Safety Bike Patrol Ambassador in Texas. The role requires riding a bicycle, patrolling assigned zones, and assisting pedestrians with directions while maintaining a friendly, professional demeanor.

Responsibilities include deterring unwanted behavior, reporting incidents to authorities, and completing basic daily reports in English. A valid TX driver’s license and a background in security or civil service are required.

Qualifications

• Experience required. We will train.
• Must have a TX driver's license.
• HS diploma or GED is required.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Able to walk or ride a bike for eight hours with breaks.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the assigned zone on foot and/ or bike as a deterrent and be on the lookout for unwanted behavior and activity.
• Provide information, assistance, and directions to pedestrians and visitors; maintain a positive, professional demeanor.
• Report to local authorities for any criminal activity; describe persons, vehicles and identifiers clearly.
• Request compliance with low-level quality-of-life laws in a firm, courteous manner.
• Engage pedestrians with greetings to provide directions and city information.
• Complete basic daily reports in English on tasks performed.

Shift/Schedule

• AM Shift - 6:00am to 2:30pm
• PM Shift - 1:30pm to 10:00pm

What You'll Be Doing

• Patrol the assigned zone on foot and/ or bike as a deterrent and be on the lookout for unwanted behavior and activity.
• Provide information, assistance, and directions to pedestrians and visitors. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to local authorities via established communication methods. Must be able to articulate an accurate description of persons, vehicles, and other identifiers.
• Firmly and courteously request compliance from persons violating low-level quality-of-life crimes, such as panhandling, loitering, disruptive behavior, etc.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and city information.
• Responsible for making a specified number of visits to zone businesses to share information and gather contact information.
• Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.

• Must have the physical capacity to walk or traverse (including riding a bike) continuously during an eight-hour shift, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.
