Job summary

Block by Block is hiring Safety Ambassadors to patrol assigned zones, assist pedestrians, and deter unwanted activity outdoors. The role emphasizes friendly interaction, clear reporting, and strong English communication to support community safety.

The position requires a valid unarmed guard license within 30 days, a HS diploma or GED, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather. Shifts are Wed–Sun from 4:00pm to 2:30am with weekly pay and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Experience preferred, we will train.
• Unarmed Guard License required within 30 days of employment.
• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to walk or traverse (including cycling) for eight-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the assigned zone on foot and/or bike to deter unwanted behavior.
• Provide information, assistance, and directions to pedestrians and visitors.
• Report any criminal activity to local authorities with clear descriptions.
• Request compliance from individuals violating low-level quality-of-life laws.
• Acknowledge pedestrians with friendly greetings to provide directions and city information.
• Make a specified number of visits to zone businesses to share information and gather contacts.
• Complete basic daily reports in English describing tasks done.

What You'll Be Doing :

• Patrol the assigned zone on foot and/ or bike as a deterrent and be on the lookout for unwanted behavior and activity.


• Provide information, assistance, and directions to pedestrians and visitors. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.


• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to local authorities via established communication methods. Must be able to articulate an accurate description of persons, vehicles, and other identifiers.


• Firmly and courteously request compliance from persons violating low-level quality-of-life crimes, such as panhandling, loitering, disruptive behavior, etc.


• Actively acknowledge for pedestrians with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and city information.


• Responsible for making a specified number of visits to zone businesses to share information and gather contact information.


• Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
