Job summary

Carowinds is seeking an Area Manager of Security to lead the Security Department, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with park policies and laws. You will develop security plans, emergency procedures, and loss prevention initiatives while partnering with local law enforcement and emergency services.

The role requires proactive leadership in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on professionalism and integrity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement Management.
• 1-4 years related experience in Law Enforcement.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Possess a valid driver's license.
• Possess or have the ability to obtain NC and SC armed Security Officer certification.
• Must be able to obtain SC SLED certifications as an Armed Security Officer and Trainer.
• Must be able to obtain a certificate in non-confrontational investigative interviewing techniques.
• Must be highly organized, self-motivated and able to perform well under pressure and receptive to feedback.
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests, employees, management, and Law Enforcement Agencies.
• Knowledge of Criminal Law.
• Must read, comprehend and speak English.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to pass background checks and drug tests as required.

Responsibilities

• Exercises general supervision over Captains, Sergeants, Corporals, subordinate officers and support staff.
• Ensure department is functioning within all local, state and federal laws.
• Monitors and observes patrol and investigative activities to ensure compliance with policies.
• Communicates using two-way radio and telephones.
• Oversees and may participate in responding to and investigating violations and preparing reports.
• Attends and represents the department at court hearings.
• Maintains contact with supervisory staff to coordinate department activities.
• Ensures availability for consultation on major incidents.
• Communicates pertinent information to Security Manager and Executive Management.
• Operates a company vehicle per policy.
• Enforces park policies and demonstrates commitment to customer service.
• Oversees scheduling, interviewing, hiring, and recruiting of all department personnel.
• Organizes, designs, updates and delivers all departmental trainings and keeps records.
• Assist in annual budget preparation and monitor compliance.
• Analyze improvements to equipment and facilities within budget.
• Procure departmental purchases as approved.
• Write and revise Department Manual of Policies and Procedures.
• Lead in employee discipline procedures.
• Coordinate daily paperwork and packets.
• Review reports by subordinate officers.
• Conduct performance evaluations.
• Leverage tools for loss prevention.
• Develop internal auditing team.
• Monitor trends in risk assessment and loss prevention.
• Implement strategies to safeguard assets and anticipate challenges.
