Job summary

SMX is seeking Cloud Systems Engineers at junior to SME levels to design and implement secure, scalable multi-cloud infrastructure for Air Force cloud projects. You will work across AWS and other clouds, develop IaC, automation, and deployment processes, and support security and compliance efforts in classified and unclassified networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, plus 4+ years in cloud engineering.
• Active Secret security clearance required.
• DoD 8570 compliant certification: CompTia Sec+.
• Expertise in cloud architectures and automation.
• Experience with IaC and DevOps tooling (Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible).
• Ability to document architectures and cloud migration strategies.
• Familiarity with RMF, NIST 800-53, and STIGs.

Responsibilities

• Design, architect, and optimize secure cloud solutions across AWS/Azure/Google/Oracle.
• Lead cloud migration strategies and establish environments across enclaves.
• Implement automation for provisioning, configuration, and monitoring.
• Develop technical documentation and infrastructure diagrams.
• Support security patching, governance, and ATO processes.
• Collaborate with client teams and vendors on cloud solutions.
• Apply DevSecOps practices and integrate cloud services with analytics.
• Assist in onboarding new cloud accounts and applications.
