Job summary

Leidos seeks a Kubernetes Platform & DevOps Engineer to design, build, automate, and sustain secure container-based platforms supporting software development, testing, and mission-critical production environments. This role combines hands-on platform engineering with infrastructure automation and security in on-prem, air-gapped, and hybrid-cloud settings.

You will collaborate with software developers, systems engineers, cybersecurity, and platform architects to establish standardized baselines

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in DevOps, platform engineering, SRE, or related technical discipline.
• 4+ years of hands-on DevOps experience supporting complex enterprise systems.
• Strong hands-on experience deploying, administering, upgrading, and troubleshooting Kubernetes clusters in enterprise environments.
• Experience with container technologies such as Docker, containerd, or CRI-O and with Helm packaging.
• Experience designing highly available, persistent container platforms including storage, backup/recovery, and capacity planning.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Bash, Python or similar.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, configure, automate, and support lifecycle management of enterprise Kubernetes clusters and containerized platforms.
• Engineer secure, repeatable Kubernetes environments for development, integration, test, staging, and production use.
• Implement LSRE-based platform capabilities and secure runtime configurations for application teams.
• Design and maintain reusable Kubernetes deployment patterns using containers, Helm charts, operators, and Git-based workflows.
• Integrate and operate platform services such as MinIO, Istio, Kafka, MongoDB, and PostgreSQL; establish availability, backup, upgrades, and security patterns.
• Develop automated provisioning and lifecycle-management solutions using Infrastructure as Code and configuration automation (Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Bash, Python).
• Implement container image management, registry integration, image scanning, signing, and secure software supply chains.
• Build secure Kubernetes networking including ingress/egress, DNS, TLS, and Istio service-to-service communications.
• Develop labs for development and integration, including air-gapped/disconnected environments for testing and customer acceptance.
