Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. seeks a Transportation Officer to securely transport detainees between destinations and ensure vehicles are maintained and safe. You will perform pre-trip, during-trip, and post-trip inspections and complete DVIRs and related paperwork.

In South Carolina, duties include maintaining courtroom order, escorting detainees, and enforcing procedures while coordinating with Transportation Supervisors. A CDL with Passenger endorsement is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid Class B or C CDL with Passenger endorsement.
• 80 hours of verified driver’s training from a DOT-approved trainer.
• Certification in Corrections, Law Enforcement, or Military.
• Current driver’s license with no preventable accidents or more than two moving violations in the past 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-trip, during-trip, and post-trip inspections of all vehicles operated. Provides DVIRs at trip end and reports safety defects to supervisor.
• Ensure permits and licenses are in order before trips. Notify Transportation Manager if problems.
• Ensure vehicles have necessary safety equipment before trips; notify manager if issues.
• Complete all necessary paperwork accurately and thoroughly; submit to facility per policies.
• Ensure detainees are properly secured and paperwork is obtained during pickup/delivery to destinations.
• Follow all safety measures and applicable laws and procedures during transport.
• Contact safety authorities and facility management in case of accidents with detailed reports.
• Deliver vehicles for servicing and pick up when ready.
• For SC officers: maintain courtroom order, escort detainees, enforce rules, report security needs.
