Job summary

Amentum seeks a Section Manager for Propulsion, Pyro and Power Systems to lead a 50+ person team at Johnson Space Center under the JETSII contract. This role oversees test operations, project requirements, and safety compliance in a fast-paced environment.

The candidate will manage resources, budgets, scheduling, and performance metrics while coordinating with NASA branches and senior management to ensure milestones are met and innovation is fostered.

Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and normally possess 5-10 years of related experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years in a management or supervisory role or coordinating and forecasting activities for employees
  • Strong communication skills to include gathering of information and creation and delivery of presentation to customer and internal management
  • Thorough understanding and broad application of occupational safety and health regulations, standards, principles, theories, and techniques

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Propulsion, Pyro and Power Systems section within Energy and Space Simulation Group.
  • Direct daily activities of 50+ employees across multiple JSC facilities.
  • Coordinate requirements for test and project requests with NASA ESTA Branch management.
  • Provide project management, cost and schedule monitoring, and performance metrics.
  • Ensure test facilities are maintained, calibrated, and compliant with safety policies.
  • Forecast resources and manage budget to meet milestones and deliverables.
  • Lead and support hiring, onboarding, timecard approvals, and performance appraisals.
  • Develop procedures and policies to strengthen test operations.
  • Collaborate with other managers to resolve issues and communicate status to leadership.
