Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Section Manager for Propulsion, Pyro and Power Systems to lead a 50+ person team at Johnson Space Center, Houston. You will manage program scope, safety, budgets, and schedules while coordinating with NASA branches to meet test objectives.

You will develop procedures, drive continuous improvement, and oversee hiring, onboarding, and performance reviews to ensure high-quality mission-support outcomes.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5–10 years of related experience.
• Minimum five years in a management or supervisory role or coordinating and forecasting activities for employees.
• Experience leading large teams and facility management.
• Strong communication skills and knowledge of safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Propulsion, Pyro and Power Systems section across multiple facilities.
• Direct daily activities of 50+ employees including engineers and technicians.
• Coordinate with NASA ESTA Branch to obtain requirements and respond to requests.
• Oversee project management, generate estimates, monitor risk, cost, schedule, and performance metrics.
• Ensure active test facilities are maintained and compliant with safety standards.
• Lead training, certification, and re-certification programs for staff.
• Develop procedures and guidelines to strengthen test operations.
• Hire, onboard, review timecards, approve leave, and conduct annual appraisals.
