Job summary

Curtiss-Wright is seeking a Section 1 Steam, Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Farris team in Brecksville, OH. You will design and analyze moderately complex mechanical systems and direct prototype fabrication.

The role includes verification of prototypes, producing technical documentation, conducting feasibility studies, and ensuring compliance with ASME Codes and NBIC. Salary range is $86,100 to $120,000 per year.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Master's degree preferred with 7–10 years of relevant experience.
  • DOE, statistical analysis (Minitab), DPS, and 3-D CAD systems.
  • CFD/FEA modeling; VOC; iterate designs and validate performance.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple project responsibilities and manage teams.

Responsibilities

  • Modify existing and create new products to meet customer applications and industry standards.
  • Develop test protocols and oversee lab testing to verify design performance.
  • Design experiments, collect data, interpret results, and write analysis/test reports.
  • Draw conclusions and reconcile differences between predicted and actual results.
  • File innovation disclosures and patent applications and ensure IP documentation.

SECTION 1 STEAM, SENIOR MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

We have a rewarding opportunity for a Section 1 Steam, Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Farris team in Brecksville, OH! As our Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will design and analyze moderately complex mechanical systems, equipment and products. You will conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. You will direct support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. You will be responsible for completing verification of prototypes and validation of manufactured products, as well as, producing technical documentation of analysis and results to establish sustainable records.

Location: Brecksville, OH - Onsite. Salary: $ 86,100.00 - $120,000.00 per year.

What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Master's degree preferred 7-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Design of Experiments (DOE), Statistical Analysis (i.e. Minitab), Disciplined Problem Solvine (DPS), 3-D CAD systems.
  • Computational modeling CFD/FEA, Voice of Customer (VOC) Ability to create and iterate designs, validate performance, and perform design reviews.
  • Capable of coordinating multiple project responsibilities.
  • Must be a team player, have effective communication skills, and the ability manage projects.
  • Experience designing and testing pressure relief valves developed for high pressure steam applications.
  • Working knowledge of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes (Section I and VII) and National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspections (NBIC).
