Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Ground Systems Computer HW Engineer to join the Compute IPT for a new ground-based radar. You will design, stand up, and sustain high‑performance computer environments for DSP and mission software, reporting to the Compute IPT lead and collaborating across disciplines.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in computer systems, HW baseline design, and change control, with experience in ASME drawings, BOMs, and PLM tools.

Qualifications

• Must have an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application.
• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of relevant experience – OR – Master’s degree with 3 years – OR – PhD with 1 year.
• Experience with requirements decomposition to hardware specs.
• Able to read and develop engineering drawings compliant to ASME Standards.
• Create BOMs, perform trade studies, drive HW baseline and change process.
• Familiar with servers, switches, routers, storage, and fiber‑optic modules.
• Experience in an Agile environment.
• Experience with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence).
• Experience supporting major design milestones (SRR, PDR, CDR).
• Familiar with PLM tools (Teamcenter) and HW baselines.
• Familiar with cable standards and types.
• Ability to travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Collaboratively define and document the computer system design.
• Develop Cameo models and engineering BOMs.
• Determine system specs and hardware/software compatibility for security.
• Support design and integration of computer environments.
• Identify, analyze, and resolve program deficiencies.
• Develop and recommend corrective actions.
• Work hands on with engineers to build and checkout components.
• Collaborate with systems engineering, IT, cybersecurity, and SW teams.
