Job summary

I2X Technologies in Illinois seeks a Transport Network Engineer II to design, implement, and support complex carrier-grade networks for a federal government program. The role is on-site and requires an active Secret clearance, with DoD 8750 IAT II or equivalent certification.

You will work with CIENA, Cisco, and related equipment on DWDM/SONET systems, perform fault isolation, support incident management, and document metrics and procedures for engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Requires active Secret clearance.
• DoD 8750 IAT II or Security+ CE certification.
• Proficient with transport platforms: CIENA 6500, Corestream, Cisco NCS2K, MSPP 15454/15310, SYCAMORE ODXC.
• Experience analyzing Optical network section/line/path events.
• Experience with end-to-end loopback testing on transport networks.
• Experience with CISCO/CIENA devices in service provider environments.
• Ports/protocols knowledge for DWDM and SONET.

Responsibilities

• Perform network design and engineering; develop procedures for upgrades.
• Implement new network hardware on operational nodes and deploy changes.
• Provide incident management escalation support and root-cause analysis.
• Update tickets and document MSS data; coordinate maintenance windows.
• Interact with government customer and TAC to resolve issues.
