Job summary

Leidos at Scott AFB in Illinois seeks a Transport Network Engineer to sustain and enhance the Defense Information System Network. You will design, implement, and troubleshoot transport networks across various platforms and coordinate incidents, changes and recoveries to ensure secure and reliable DoD services.

The role requires a active Secret clearance, DoD 8750 IAT II or equivalent, and hands-on experience with CIENA and Cisco transport hardware.

Qualifications

• Active Secret security clearance
• DoD 8750 IAT II or Security+ CE or equivalent
• Experience with transport platforms: CIENA 6500, CIENA Corestream, Cisco NCS2K, Cisco MSPP 15454/15310, SYCAMORE ODXC 16K/9K, XTERA
• Experience analyzing optical network events and performance
• End-to-end testing and troubleshooting on transport networks
• Experience with DWDM/SONET technologies
• Experience working with service providers and/or enterprise transport systems (Cisco/CIENA)
• Crypto configuration/troubleshooting and design experience
• Understanding of Physical (Layer 1) and Data Link (Layer 2) troubleshooting

Responsibilities

• Perform network design and engineering tasks including design, procedures, testing and architecture modifications for hardware/software refresh approvals.
• Deploy and integrate new network hardware on operational nodes and monitor changes for traffic impact.
• Advise on best practices for network operation and maintenance and update engineering documents.
• Provide data gathering, modeling and flowchart creation to optimize network configurations.
• Perform fault isolation, analysis and troubleshooting across Transport platforms (ODXC/MSPP, DWDM, TDM).
• Engage with engineers, vendors, and customers to determine root cause analysis and resolution.
• Update ServiceNow tickets with accurate documentation and provide situational reporting to management.
• Coordinate maintenance windows and ASI activities with site personnel and customers.
• Interact with Problem Coordinators and TAC to gather data for hardware replacements and resolutions.
