Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is hiring a Communications Electronics Engineer (Level 2 or 3) in San Diego or Palmdale. You will support a communications payload subsystem, report to the engineering lead and program manager, and collaborate across teams to ensure technical success.

The role requires on-site work with up to 25% travel, an active US Secret clearance, and strong experience in RF and network test equipment. Two levels may apply based on qualification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 2 years of related engineering experience OR Master’s degree and 0 years.
• Principal Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years OR Master’s degree and 3 years OR PhD and 1 year.
• Experience in Communications and Network system integration.
• Experience with RF and Network based test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, power meters).
• Active US Government Secret Clearance (with BI within past 6 years or Continuous Evaluation).
• Ability to obtain and maintain US Government Top Secret clearance.
• Ability to obtain and maintain SAP clearance.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate communication subsystem technical requirements with supplier management.
• Manage suppliers to assess new technology and viability for programs.
• Conduct trade studies and analyses on new hardware/software.
• Collaborate with program management to build schedules and assess risks.
• Address subsystem performance concerns using program tools and processes.
• Identify opportunities for subsystem improvement with engineering teams.
• Report status and risks to leadership to prevent cost or schedule impact.
• Provide engineering support and troubleshooting during test events.
