Job summary

Calvert County Public Schools seeks a Secondary Writing Coach at Plum Point Middle School. You will work with administrators, staff and students to build authentic writing opportunities, workshops and publications, guiding students in multiple genres both during and after school.

The role emphasizes collaboration with the ELA department and community partners to align practices with CCPS standards, while supporting student growth and self-expression in writing.

Qualifications

• Passion for writing as self-expression.
• Proficient knowledge of Office 365, Google Docs, Flipgrid and department databases.
• Experience in instructional/tutoring practices for writing development.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and ability to manage projects to completion.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize.
• Ability to analyze data and write reports.

Responsibilities

• Conduct needs assessments for student writing and analyze CCPS writing data.
• Identify students for emerging and advanced writing opportunities.
• Advise, coach and document student progress in writing development.
• Provide instructional and technical support on writing strategies and related software.
• Collaborate with student writers to develop voice and confidence in workshops.
• Organize schoolwide writing workshops, parent nights, and publication opportunities.
