Job summary

Montgomery-Public-Schools seeks a Special Education Teacher for grades 9-12 to provide inclusive instruction and specialized support within general education classrooms and as a resource teacher. The teacher must hold Alabama SPED certification (7-12) and will work under the Sheffield district guidelines.

Responsibilities include implementing IEPs, collaborating with staff, and utilizing technology for planning and reporting.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Valid Alabama State Professional Educators Certificate in special education.
Able to meet suitability criteria under applicable acts.
Proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
Effective interpersonal skills with collaboration.
Ability to develop and implement curriculum for assigned students.
Ability to use technology to communicate, plan instruction, and manage data.

Responsibilities

Demonstrates support for the school system’s vision, goals, and priorities.
Demonstrates knowledge of child development and characteristics of disabilities.
Participates in development of students’ IEPs as a member of the IEP team.
Implements students’ IEPs.
Schedules IEP meetings.
Uses instructional strategies aligned to student needs.
Monitors participation in regular education programs and collaborates with teachers.
