Qualifications

• Demonstrate knowledge of student behavior in his/her area of exceptionality and relevant program policies.
• Ability to interpret assessment data, group students, and develop strategies for individualized instructional needs.
• Effective oral and written communication to fulfill IEP requirements and to communicate with students, parents, support agencies and staff.
• Physical and emotional ability to perform required work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Administers educational achievement tests to assess students’ levels of competencies and needs.
• Assesses students’ needs in transition and related services.
• Schedules annual IEP meetings.
• Coordinates and assists in developing an IEP with goals, objectives and timelines.
• Employs instructional techniques suited to individual student needs.
• Monitors participation in regular education programs and provides remediation materials as needed.
• Participates in Eligibility and Due Process IEP meetings and completes relevant forms.
• Evaluates educational progress according to the IEP.
• Attends workshops and professional development to maintain certification guidelines.
• Maintains records and submits reports as required.
• Establishes and maintains a standard of student behavior for a functional learning atmosphere.
• Maintains open communication with students, families and agencies.
• Collaborates with staff to plan instructional goals and curriculum development.
• Assumes other duties as assigned by supervisor.
