Job summary

Poudre School District, Polaris Expeditionary Learning School, in Fort Collins, Colorado, is seeking a long-term substitute teacher for high school Math and Science. The assignment runs from September 21, 2026 through the remainder of the fall semester, with 188 work calendar days and the district’s benefits including PERA retirement.

The substitute must hold a valid Colorado teaching license or Substitute Authorization.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with proper teaching licensure program required.
Experience instructing students in a classroom setting preferred.
Criminal background check required for hire.
Valid Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsements required.
CPR and First Aid certifications encouraged.

Responsibilities

Develop, plan, prepare, and implement course content, format, structure, and schedule.
Instruct students in large, small, and one-on-one settings.
Administer, edit, proofread, and grade assignments and assessments.
Create a classroom environment that maximizes instructional opportunities and manage student behavior.
Design assessment tasks and use data to give feedback and modify instruction.
Monitor student growth and progress and maintain relevant documentation.
Communicate progress and needs with parents/guardians and staff.
Collaborate with teachers and staff to enhance instruction and outcomes.
Attend meetings, conferences, and participate in professional growth activities.
