Job summary

Alexandria City Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Specialist (Secondary Advanced Academic Services) in Alexandria, VA. This 12-month licensed position will work with the Director of Advanced Academic Services to support screening, identification, and placement of students into AAS and Young Scholars programs.

Responsibilities include providing school-based instructional support, professional learning, and ensuring alignment of written and taught curricula at the secondary level.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field required; master's degree preferred.
• Five years of secondary teaching experience and gifted experience.

Responsibilities

• Supports implementation of secondary gifted services and Young Scholars model.
• Assists with screening, referral, identification, and placement of students in AAS services.
• Provides regular school-based instructional support and professional learning to align curriculum.
• Works with central office staff, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes.
• Communicates with internal and external stakeholders via newsletters and websites.
• Assists in data analysis focusing on AAS student enrollment and distribution in adherence to policies.
