Job summary

Baltimore City Public Schools is seeking an Educational Specialist II - Gifted and Advanced Learning to expand gifted and advanced learning opportunities in schoolwide programs. The role focuses on increasing access for students in high-poverty schools and provides coaching, professional learning, and technical assistance to teachers and staff.

The specialist coordinates districtwide GAL initiatives, ensures alignment with GOALS, and stays current with research and best practices in gifted

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred.
• MSDE Advanced Professional License or National Board Certification.
• At least five years of relevant full-time professional experience.
• Three years of teaching experience, including experience with gifted students.
• Three years of teaching experience at the elementary level.
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate professional learning.
• Knowledge of differentiated instruction for gifted learners.
• Knowledge of standards and best practices in curriculum and assessment.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct support to schools, administrators, and teachers.
• Plans and delivers content-based professional learning opportunities for educators.
• Participates in identification process for gifted and advanced learners per COMAR and district guidelines.
• Recommends instructional materials and resources for gifted programs.
• Collaborates across disciplines to develop differentiation and intervention strategies.
• Maintains knowledge of research and best practices in gifted education.
