Job summary

YES Prep in Houston is seeking a Secondary Dean of Instruction to lead instructional quality across a cohort of teachers. You will work with the Principal and Director of Academics to set expectations and strategies to improve student achievement.

The role emphasizes classroom observations, coaching cycles, and professional development days, with a pathway to credentialing as a YES Prep Teacher Evaluator. The position starts as an 11-month term with starting compensation of $70,500.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution.
• At least 3 years of exemplary teaching.
• A valid Texas teaching certificate or equivalent.
• Belief in and commitment to the mission and core values of YES Prep Public Schools.
• Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback.

Responsibilities

• Managing and developing a cohort of teachers.
• With the Principal and/or Director of Academics, setting and upholding clear expectations and standards for excellent teaching in all content areas.
• Observing and evaluating a cohort of teachers and providing coaching using the district Coaching Cycle model.
• Monitoring progress toward increased student achievement and campus goals for a cohort of teachers.
• Assisting in planning and delivering professional learning opportunities during in-service days and PD days.
• Completing a one-year credentialing track to become a YES Prep Teacher Evaluator.
