Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems in Devens, MA seeks a detail‑oriented R&D Technician for the second shift to support prototype production, process monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing manufacturing support for SPARC R&D projects.

You will collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality and other teams to ensure equipment reliability and continuous improvement while maintaining thorough documentation and a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/equivalency certificate or higher
  • 3-5 years experience in mechanical/electrical assembly, vacuum/cryo systems, and related technical areas
  • Experience with hand tools and precision measurement equipment

Responsibilities

  • Assist in building prototypes and magnet components
  • Prepare prototypes for evaluation and robustness
  • Monitor processes and troubleshoot equipment to implement viable solutions
  • Setup, operate, and maintain R&D equipment
  • Assist in installation of new projects and readiness testing
  • Maintain records and drive process improvements for manufacturing
  • Provide technical support to internal customers (QA, QC, Engineering)
  • Commit to safety and quality in all activities
