Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking an R&D Technician to support prototype production, process monitoring and ongoing manufacturing support. You will collaborate with Operations, Maintenance and Quality to meet project goals and improve processes to enable future Earth‑friendly power.

The role emphasizes hands‑on build work, tool use, and rigorous attention to safety and documentation, with opportunities to contribute to cutting‑edge fusion technology in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or higher.
• 3–5 years experience with hand tools, power tools and precision measuring tools.
• Experience with mechanical/electrical assembly, vacuum and cryogenic systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building products and magnet prototypes.
• Prepare prototypes for internal/external evaluation and robustness checks.
• Conduct process monitoring, equipment capability and production troubleshooting; implement viable solutions.
• Set up, operate, troubleshoot and maintain R&D equipment.
• Assist in installation and readiness of new projects.
• Support testing, specification development and manufacturing process establishment.
