Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking an R&D Technician to assist R&D staff with product development, prototyping, and ongoing manufacturing support. You’ll be involved in prototype production, process monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining equipment to ensure robust operations.

The role emphasizes safety and collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and other departments. You’ll lead hands-on work with magnet prototypes, coordinate testing and documentation, and contribute to

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 3+ years experience with a wide variety of hand tools and power tools including precision measuring tools.
• 3-5 years experience in mechanical/electrical assembly, plumbing, vacuum systems, cryogenic systems, soldering, and wiring.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building new products and magnet prototypes.
• Prepare prototypes for internal/external evaluation and robustness.
• Conduct process monitoring, equipment capability and production trouble‑shooting.
• Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain R&D equipment.
• Assist in installation and readiness of new projects.
• Support Senior R&D staff with testing and process development.
• Maintain records of projects and suggest process improvements.
• Provide technical assistance to internal customers (QA, QC, Engineering, Management).
• Maintain a safe work environment and follow safety practices.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
