Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems seeks an R&D Technician to support prototype production, process monitoring, and continuous manufacturing improvements on second shift. You will work with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality to meet project goals and ensure equipment operates safely and reliably.

Responsibilities include building magnet prototypes, setting up and troubleshooting R&D equipment, and documenting results while assisting with new projects and process development.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/equivalency certificate or higher.
• 3–5 years experience in mechanical/electrical assembly, plumbing, vacuum systems, cryogenic systems, soldering, and wiring.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform tasks for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Assist in building new products and magnet prototypes.
• Prepare prototypes for internal/external evaluation and ensure robustness.
• Conduct process monitoring, equipment capability, and production trouble-shooting.
• Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain R&D equipment.
• Assist in installation and readiness of new projects.
• Support testing, specification development, and manufacturing processes.
• Maintain records of projects and suggest process improvements.
• Provide technical assistance to internal customers (QA, QC, Engineering, Management).
• Maintain a safe work environment and comply with safety standards.
