Job summary

Acme Industries in Elk Grove Village, IL, seeks a Second Shift Quality Gage Technician to manage the gage room and ensure calibrated tools are ready for production. This role is integral to our measurement system and supports ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100D.

You will collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and production across shifts, performing in-house calibration, maintaining records, and aiding process verification with GD&T and inspection practices.

Qualifications

• Ability to work the second shift 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM.
• Minimum 2 years in a gage room, metrology lab, or quality inspection role.
• In-house calibration of calipers, micrometers, thread gages, dial indicators, bore gages.
• Read drawings and apply GD&T to tool selection.
• Detail-oriented with focus on measurement accuracy.
• Organized with calibration schedules and inventory control.
• Strong coordination and communication across shifts.
• Basic QA software and spreadsheet skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain gage room in a clean, organized, controlled condition.
• Issue gages and tools to production ahead of job needs.
• Track location, assignment, and return in calibration system or log.
• Coordinate with supervisors and setup machinists on gage needs.
• Inspect returned gages for damage and process for calibration or repair.
• Perform in-house calibration of standard tools and maintain records.
• Label and document calibration status and due dates.
• Support first article and in-process inspections as directed.
