Job summary

Southeastern Freight Lines is hiring a Full-Time Outbound Freight Handler in Richland, MS. You will load/unload freight, prepare trailers, and use safe lifting techniques with a range of handling equipment.

Responsibilities include weighing/dimensioning shipments, planning cube utilization, and validating paperwork and manifests to ensure accuracy. Preferred candidates have a HS diploma or GED and forklift certification, with prior forklift, dock, warehouse, or material handler experience.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a background check and an alcohol/drug test.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Prior forklift, dock, warehouse, or material handler experience preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight from equipment.
• Prepare, sweep, inspect and clean trailers before loading.
• Use safe lifting techniques to load/unload freight.
• Operate forklifts and other handling equipment as needed.
• Weigh and dimension shipments to ensure proper classification and safe handling.
• Plan cube utilization and weight distribution when loading freight.
• Count and inspect freight for shortages or damage; document findings.
• Review freight bills for special instructions; verify manifests and labels.
• Verify hazardous material descriptions and placarding when applicable.
• Block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.
