Job summary

Southeastern Freight Lines is seeking a PT Inbound Freight Handler to load and unload freight, assist in recouping damaged freight, inspect trailers, and ensure safe handling. You will weigh and dimension shipments, plan cube utilization, and verify destination codes for accurate shipment processing.

Responsibilities also include inspecting for shortages or damage, reviewing freight bills, and using proper equipment to load and unload.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Background check and drug test must be passed.
• Forklift operator/dock/warehouse experience preferred.
• Forklift certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight, assisting in recouping damaged freight.
• Prepare, sweep, inspect, and clean trailers before loading.
• Use safe lifting techniques and appropriate equipment for loading/unloading.
• Weigh and dimension shipments to ensure proper classification and handling.
• Plan cube utilization and weight distribution when loading freight.
• Count and inspect freight, documenting shortages or damage.
• Review freight bills and manifests for special instructions and destination codes.
• Verify hazardous material descriptions and proper placarding.
• Block and brace freight to prevent shifting during transport.
