Job summary

Niron Magnetics in Minneapolis, MN, is hiring a Lead Machinist for the 2nd shift. You will lead the second shift, program and operate HAAS and manual machines, and ensure safe, efficient production of magnets and assemblies.

You will coach machinists, troubleshoot issues, and uphold strict quality and process standards. As a hands-on technical lead, you will interpret drawings with GD&T, supervise tooling and setup, and collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance to meet daily goals.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant experience with CNC and manual machining.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and apply GD&T requirements.
• Experience with precision measuring equipment and inspection methods.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and coaching skills.
• Excellent organization and communication for shift leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead second‑shift machining by planning priorities, staffing, tooling, and equipment readiness.
• Train machinists on safe operation, setups, inspection methods, and standard work.
• Serve as first escalation point for machining, tooling, quality, and workflow issues and manage shift handoffs.
• Set up, program, adjust, and operate CNC and manual machines to produce magnets, components, and fixtures.
• Support continuous improvement through tool changes, offsets, and process optimization.
