Job summary

Oldcastle APG is seeking a dependable machinist/operator to run assigned machinery and maintain safety and quality standards on the production floor.

The role requires attention to numeric specifications, ability to read manuals, and teamwork to meet daily deadlines while following CRH safety policies. Experience with basic electronics and hydraulics is helpful, and a willingness to learn new processes is valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; or related experience.
• Basic understanding of electronics and programmable controllers.
• Knowledge with hydraulics, electricity and tools.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and maintenance manuals.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic in all units of measure.
• Computer literacy and strong mechanical aptitude.
• Leadership abilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
• Set stops or guides to specific lengths as indicated by scale or templates.
• Observe machine operation to detect defects or malfunctions.
• Review products for inconsistencies to ensure quality.
• Perform routine machine maintenance.
• Assist other operators to set up machines and meet deadlines.
• Maintain housekeeping in assigned area.
