Job summary

Pilgrim’s is hiring for a Quality Assurance & Food Safety role at our Live Oak, Florida facility. The candidate will have five or more years of related experience in poultry or meat processing and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work in adverse conditions and flexible hours is required, and prior related experience can substitute degree requirements. Responsibilities include hazard analyses, safety reporting to senior management, training, inspections, and implementing

Qualifications

• Minimum five years related experience in poultry or meat processing plant
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must be able to work in adverse conditions
• Must be able to work flexible days/hours when needed
• Directly related experience may be substituted for degree requirements

Responsibilities

• Conduct hazard and risk analyses
• Ensure that all occupational safety and health tasks are completed as scheduled
• Assist in submitting regular reports on the status of safety and health to senior management
• Advise senior management, supervisors and Occupational Health Department
• Work with Plant Safety Committee
• Assist with implementation of new safety and health management systems
• Maintain and track the accident record system and investigate accidents
• Conduct monthly supervisor safety training classes
• Initiate activities that stimulate and maintain employee interest in safety and health
• Conduct weekly plant safety inspection
• Make daily plant inspections to uncover unsafe work practices
• Assist in management of exposure control program, hazard communication, respiratory protection program and hearing conservation program
• Ensure compliance with laws and company policies on industrial safety and health
• Assist in setting standards for PPE and machine guarding
• Work with Occupational Health Department to develop ergonomics program
• Assist in approving designs for new/modified equipment and inspect such equipment
• Other duties as assigned
