Job summary

VARITE is seeking a Technical Associate - Research & Development for an on-site role in Wilmington, DE.

The candidate will support the second-shift operation of a focused-ion beam scanning electron microscope (FIB-SEM) under experienced scientists, with daytime training for the first three months.

The contract is 12 months with possible extension; compensation ranges from $28.00 to $31.69 per hour on W2, and US citizenship or a Green Card is required.

Qualifications

• BS in chemistry, materials science, physics, engineering or related field.
• Experience with electron microscopy.
• Ability to work in a team under tight timelines and priorities.
• Demonstrate commitment to laboratory safety.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for analysis using polishers, plasma or sputter coaters, and FIB-SEM cross-section milling.
• Perform FIB-SEM analyses including imaging, EDS, EBSD and assess data quality.
• Review and organize data for reporting to customers.
• Maintain instruments and dispose of laboratory waste per procedures.
• Coordinate with first-shift operator and adhere to safety protocols.
